Premiership season kicks off Sept. 5

The Premier League Board has confirmed September 5, 2010 as the start date for the new season.

According to the PLB, the date for the 2010/2011 league season has been ratified by the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Aduana Stars will be defending the title won last season as the Glo Premier League welcomes three new promoted sides, Ebusua Dwarfs, Mighty Jets and B.A. Stars to the top-flight competition.

The PLB says player registration and verification process for the 16-team premiership will end on August 18, 2010 after which the season will kick off.

Below are the new dates for the programme leading to the start of the 2010/2011 Premier League season:

May 21 2010 – Registration of players begins

August 4, 2010 – End of Registration

August 11, 2010 – Publication of registered players

August 18, 2010 – Verification of registered players

September 5, 2010 – Kick off of the league

It said from Thursday August 5 to Wednesday August 11, publication of registered players would be done with verification of registered players taking place from Thursday August 12 to Wednesday August 18.

The statement added that kick-off of the league will begin on Sunday, September 5.

It reminded newly promoted clubs to the Premier League; Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs, Mighty Jets and B.A. Stars to submit their documents of Incorporation as Companies either limited by shares or guarantee to the GFA, according to FA regulations.

In addition, all clubs are required to register a Home and Away strip distinct from each other on forms to be supplied by GFA according to FA regulations.

“Clubs are enjoined to co-operate fully with the Premier League Board for the successful take off of the 2010/2011 league,” the statement added.
