Cairo has witnessed its fair share of historic scenes in recent weeks and tonight Zamalek fans caused the abandonment of an African Champions League clash as their fans swarmed on to the pitch. Zamalek were leading 2-1 in their second leg encounter against Tunisia’s Club Africain, but having lost 4-2 in the first game were still trailing in the tie. A disallowed goal was all it took for the Zamalek fans to swarm the pitch with seconds remaining of the match. Early reports suggest nine people were injured.
