Former Ghana striker Isaac Boakye made his Norwegian League debut for Valerenga on Friday night in a 0-1 defeat to Stabaek.
Boakye, who joined Valerenga on free transfer last week, was thrown into the fray just after the hour mark.
A 38th minute own-goal from Valerenga defender Steven Strandberg handed them their first defeat in the three-week old league.
The former Nurnberg forward got close to leveling the score five minutes from time when his goal-bound drive was scoop off the line by a Stabaek defender.
Boakye signed for Valerenga after he ended his two and half year contract with German side Nurnberg in December last year.
