Sudan 0 – Ghana 2

Early goals from Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah earned four-time champions Ghana a 2-0 victory in near 40 degrees celsius temperatures in Sudan, and top place in their group with 16 points from six matches.
Ghana will make a 19th Africa Cup of Nations appearance at next year’s finals to be co-hosted by Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.

Seven-time winners Egypt (22) and Ivory Cost (19) are the countries to have made more appearances than Ghana.

With defending champions Egypt, Cameroon and Nigeria all failing to qualify, the Black Stars will be huge favourites to the crown.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup quarter-finalists missed out narrowly at the last edition in Angola two years ago losing 1-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Ghana will know their Group opponents on 25 October when the draw takes place in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
